Since the 2014-2015 school year, Somerset Oaks has implemented a STEM initiative aimed at enhancing STEM literacy for students at all grade levels. This plan specifically focuses on offering opportunities to students traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields by fostering a dynamic and supportive learning environment where they can thrive as 21st-century learners. A key aspect of this initiative is the introduction of a dedicated STEM block in the schedule for each grade, allowing for an hour of hands-on STEM activities, research projects, and problem-based learning. During these sessions, students actively take charge of their learning by setting goals, selecting their preferred learning methods, and sharing their achievements with peers. 

Over the years, Somerset Oaks Academy has expanded both the quality and variety of STEM opportunities for students. With a focus on rigorous academics, the school encourages higher-order thinking and equips students to become effective problem-solvers. Through a blend of project-based learning, specialized STEM courses, engaging electives, extracurricular activities, and a gifted science program for 2nd to 5th graders, students leave the academy with a strong foundation, prepared to pursue advanced pathways in high school. 

In digital education, students have achieved certifications and top awards in Microsoft applications and Adobe Photoshop, highlighting their proficiency in technology. Our TV Production and Journalism programs have been recognized for producing exceptional content, winning accolades for creativity and storytelling. Our Business/Marketing students have also excelled in local and state contests, demonstrating their entrepreneurial spirit and strategic thinking. These accomplishments underscore our dedication to preparing students for success in the 21st century. Beyond competitions, our students have numerous opportunities to showcase their STEM learning within the school.
