Early College Credit Program (ECCP) & Start College Now (SCN) at Somerset High School
Wisconsin's Early College Credit Program allows public high school juniors and seniors who meet certain requirements to take post-secondary* The School Board will be responsible for the cost of tuition if the course is approved either for high school credit or for dual credit (high school and post-secondary credit). Tuition will be paid for high school and/or dual credit courses in which a student enrolls only if the student has exhausted the curriculum at Somerset High School or if the course is not comparable to a course
Under ECCP/SCN, a student does not pay for a college course if the school board determines the course qualifies for high school credit and is not comparable to a course already offered in the school district. If approved by the school board, the student can receive both high school and college credit upon successful completion of the course.
Courses are at a UW institution, a Wisconsin technical college, one of the state's participating private nonprofit institutions of higher education, or tribally-controlled colleges. Approved courses count toward high school graduation and college credit offered within the school district. Students approved to enroll for post-secondary credit only, are responsible for all tuition and fees.
* ECCP/SCN allows school boards to limit students to 18 post-secondary credits, total, in their junior and senior years. The district can deny high school credit for ECCP/SCN courses if the credit does not satisfy a high school graduation requirement and/or the district offers comparable course.
* Students should first check with the High School library for any required textbooks. If textbooks are not available through the High School Library, students will contact the College's bookstore for textbook rentals. Rentals will be billed to the district, any damaged or non returned books/fees are the responsibility of the student. If you bypass checking the High School library and go directly to the College's bookstore and the materials are available in the High School Library, the student will be responsible for the rental/book fees.
* If a student receives a failing grade or fails to complete (drops) a course for which the school district has made payment, the school board is authorized to request reimbursement for all costs related to this course from the student if he or she is an adult or from the student's parent or guardian.
* Students participating in ECCP/SCN must complete and submit all application forms no later than March 1 for a course to be taken in the fall and by October 1 for a course to be taken in the spring semester.
* The ECCP/SCN does not apply to summer programs.
* A separate enrollment form must be completed for each semester of instruction.

Part-time Public School Open Enrollment
Beginning in the 2018-19 school year, a pupil enrolled in a public school in the high school grades may attend public school in a nonresident school district for the purpose of taking a course offered by the nonresident school district. A pupil may attend no more than two courses at any time in nonresident school districts.
