General Information:
An invitational tournament is a Science Olympiad tournament that is run for fun and practice for teams. It will not affect regional or state qualification, it is only so that teams can enjoy the fun of competing in another Science Olympiad competition.
The Socorro High Invitational is New Mexico's first ever invitational, hosted by Socorro High School.
We are hosting this invitational for Division B Teams only.
Science Olympiad Model:
The Socorro High Invitational will use the Mini SO Science Olympiad model. This means that teams will compete from their home and we will run a modified slate of events (eliminating all hands-on events).
For more information about how we will run our tournament, see our logistics page.
For more information about Mini Science Olympiad, see the National Science Olympiad tournaments page here.
All events will be run in scheduled time blocks, throughout the day. A schedule of events will be posted shortly.
The intent of this is to ensure that volunteers have ample time to score their events, and to try to mimic a normal competition as closely as possible.
Tentative Date of Event:
Division B Invitational: January 9th, 2021
Awards Ceremony: January 10th, 2021
Teams:
We have a tentative limit of 30 maximum teams in each division at our invitational. Any additional teams will be placed on a waiting list.
All participating teams MUST have signed the registration form with the state director and sent in the payment for participating in Science Olympiad.
In addition, teams will be asked to pay a $30 fee in order to cover the costs of awards.
See our registration page for more information about registration, payment, and cancellation.
