Have you experienced property damage as a result of the flooding in Socorro County between September 25th, 2026 and October 5th, 2026? If so, please fill out the form located at https://sites.google.com/socorrocounty.net/socorro-county-infonet/administration/emergency-management under the 'Disaster Recovery Assistance and Documentation' section and return it to oeminfo@co.socorro.nm.us along with photos of the damage. The Office of Emergency Management is working towards being able to facilitate disaster recovery financial aid. This will also help us understand the extent of damage and the impact on the communities of Socorro County.
10/6/2026: 9:00am - HWY 60 reopened over the weekend to passenger vehicles and approved weighted trucks following ongoing repair work on the bridge. At this time, oversized and overweight commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) are not permitted to use the bridge. These restrictions will remain in place until further notice as repair work continues. For the safety of motorists and workers, the bridge will remain under a reduced speed limit of 45 mph. Drivers are asked to obey all posted signs, follow the reduced speed limit, and use caution while traveling through the area. Further updates will available at nmroads.com.
10/1/2026: 12:00pm - HWY 60 Road Closure west of the City of Socorro. No new updates for this morning. NMDOT crews have begun working on repairs. The closure is expected to last 3 to 4 days. Please continue to use caution on alternate routes. NMROADS.com advises that 4x4 vehicles are recommended for travel on NM 107.
9/30/2026: 17:50- HWY 60 Road Closure West of the City of Socorro. Sheriff's Office has cleared Highway 107 for use as an alternate route in both directions. ALL TRAVELERS: Use Caution and be especially mindful of arroyo crossings as the heavy use could render the road difficult to drive. If you become stuck call 911 for assistance.
