My research focuses on the design and development of functional fluorogenic materials with diverse structural architectures for advanced diagnostics and therapeutic applications. A key area of our work involves activity-based chemosensors and molecular probes for detecting biologically and environmentally relevant analytes, including toxic substances in food and water. We also design fluorescent probes for monitoring microenvironments—such as pH, viscosity, polarity, and temperature—and for detecting reactive carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen species at the subcellular level. These tools help us study disease progression and identify early biomarkers for conditions such as diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson’s disease, and cancer. Additionally, our research includes nanoparticle-based multimodal imaging platforms to integrate diagnostic imaging with therapeutic functions like photodynamic therapy (PDT), photothermal therapy (PTT), and chemotherapy with a particular emphasis on cancer for precision medicine. This interdisciplinary approach bridges synthetic chemistry, bioimaging, and materials science to address pressing challenges in healthcare and environmental monitoring.
