Seminar Guidelines
Format: Wednesdays 12:30–1:40pm | Location: 16-437 | Lunch provided.
Each session takes one of two forms: two 30-minute presentations, or a single job market practice talk using the full slot.
Presenter: Present your own work.
No-interruption rule: No questions are taken during the first 5 minutes of the talk. Use this time to state clearly: (1) the research question, (2) why the question is interesting and important, (3) the main finding (at an early stage, the core hypothesis or mechanism), and (4) what is new relative to the existing literature.
After the first 5 minutes, questions are welcome, so plan your time with that in mind. In a 30-minute slot, prepare roughly 20 minutes of material.
Slides: Submit to your slide advisor at least 1 week before. Incorporate feedback before presenting.
Attendance: Regular attendance and Q&A participation are expected.
