In English 3A, students focus on reading and analyzing a variety of texts to deepen their understanding of how writers develop meaning and impact. They will examine character development, theme development, and the use of figurative language, as well as compare how ideas are presented in multiple versions of a text. Through written analysis and reflection, students will strengthen their interpretive and critical thinking skills. All topics align with Idaho State Standards and support continued growth as analytical and effective communicators.
Students learn how to analyze how the characters with multiple or conflicting motivations change throughout the story, how they interact with other characters, and how their actions impact the storyline.
Students learn how to analyze how themes grow and evolve throughout a story, including how they appear and are shaped by specific details such as motifs and symbols.
Students learn to identify and interpret figurative language and analyze how it shapes a story’s meaning and impact.
Students learn how to compare different versions of a text, including recorded or live productions, and analyze how each version interprets the original text.
