To reduce the barriers to learning by establishing and maintaining effective communication between staff, students, and parents for the purpose of improving student success in the school setting. We support at-risk students and their families with strengthened parent involvement in the educational process with an emphasis on increasing appropriate behaviors, improving attendance, increasing academic success, and providing the school with universal programs to meet social emotional needs.
I provide support and supervision to Social Work interns. Interns are current students in undergraduate (BSW)/graduate (MSW) level courses and are accruing internship hours with San Marcos Unified School District (SMUSD) as per an agreement with their respective graduate schools. Interns will fulfill an internship for one academic school year and are supervised by SMUSD School Social Workers. Services can be provided by interns and/or SMUSD School Social Workers. This allows us to provide additional support to students, families, and staff as most social workers split their time among different school sites.
