The Kindness Ambassador program is at SEES. We meet every Monday during recess in the Makerspace room and participate in activities that promote kindness throughout our campus. Students are given badges and "kindness tickets" that they give to other students when they are caught doing kind acts. These kindness tickets are then raffled off for prizes!
Teachers select a couple of students from their class to be Kindness Ambassadors. Some students in the program show strong leadership skills and are great models for showing kindness. Students who need to work on building these skills are also selected and known as "emerging leaders." Even though some are selected, the club is open for everyone to join! Some students stop by the room and decide to stick with it long-term, and others are referred by their friends.
We work on identifying what kindness looks like
We work on spreading the message of Kindness around campus. We have used plastic cups to spell out different kindness-themed words on the fence.
We do different art projects on kindness
Kindness Ambassadors help kids find someone to play with if they are alone. They promote using the buddy bench to find kids who need help making friends.
We promote different school-wide events, such as Red Ribbon Week, and the Kindness Ambassadors help facilitate lunch-time activities that focus on these topics.
