Saint Mary's is committed to providing our students with the best educational theatre experience that we can give them during these trying times. We are fortunate enough to be able to do productions in the Page Theatre almost like we intended them to be. We want to thank our students for committing to following safety procedures so that we can continue to do what we love. Due to safety concerns, we have implemented protocols to ensure that everyone involved in the production stays safe and healthy.
Anyone experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or anyone exposed to an individual who tested positive will not be allowed to participate. They will be asked to get tested and quarantine until the test results come back. We have made a list of people who can fill in crew positions if a member of the crew needs to quarantine. If a cast member needs to quarantine, they will virtually participate in the rehearsals via zoom.
All individuals involved in the production are required to have the COVIDawareMN app. This app makes it easier for us to contact trace if there is any exposure to COVID-19.
All cast members are required to wear face shields for the entirety of the rehearsals and performances. Only the owner of the face shield is allowed to touch it and each actor is responsible for sanitizing their own face shield. We have chosen face shields instead of masks so facial expressions can be seen while still remaining safe.
All crew members are required to wear masks and gloves for the entirety of the performances.
All props and set pieces are to be sanitized as soon as they come offstage and before someone else has to touch them. No one is to touch props or set pieces without gloves, except the actors while they are onstage. Immediately after exiting the stage, actors are to sanitize their hands. Costume pieces will be cleaned daily as well.
All blocking and transitions are set up in accordance with the social distancing guidelines. There will be 6 feet between actors at all times. 6' x 6' squares have been painted on the stage of the Page, allowing one actor to a square at a time.
The live audience is limited to 50 people. Select Saint Mary's students and faculty will be invited to watch the performances in person. Those invited will be required to RSVP to ensure we only have 50 people in attendance. Every three seats are marked with a sticker saying, "Sit Here," with every other row remaining empty. Every audience member must be wearing a mask for the duration of the show. Anyone else who wants to watch the production is invited to attend virtually via live stream or view the recording after the performance date. Visit our homepage for more viewing information.
Every week 10% of the student body is being tested, resulting in everyone (including the cast and crew) being tested at least once during the spring semester.
