‘Learn Financial Market through Gamification’

The session commenced with a welcome address by Professor John Menezes, the convenor of the session, who welcomed the participants and the resource person Mr. Amanpal Singh Chawla, Founder of Advisor Zaroori Hai. He encouraged the participants to use the chat box to post their responses through short quizzes and games as he covered a range of topics from Wealth Creation, Personal Finance - Planning and Risk Management, Tax Planning, to Crypto Currency, and also the Use of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning in Investment Products Optimization throughout the session. Mr. Chawla thus introduced various financial instruments to the students, important parameters to keep in mind while investing, the importance of SEBI in maintaining rules and regulations in the capital market, and also how to ‘create wealth’. The participants shared their opinions, asked questions at the end of session, and enjoyed the session thoroughly, as expressed in the feedback. The session ended with a final game on the topics covered and Professor Sandesha Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.


BASICS OF SHARE MARKET

Asst Prof Richa Sharma welcomed Principal Dr. Sridhara Shetty, Vice Principal, and B.Com Coordinator Asst Prof Sandesha Shetty, all faculty members and students present in the programme. Principal Dr. Sridhara Shetty welcomed everyone and explained the importance of this webinar to the students. He emphasized the importance of being aware and educated about the stock market in order to actively participate in the market. Asst Prof Richa Sharma introduced and welcomed the Resource Person Mr. Sri Harsha and gave the platform to him to guide the students on the topic for the webinar. The resource person gave a detailed explanation of the Share market, Stock exchanges, Stock market Index as well as the top stocks that are traded in the market. Asst Prof. Richa Sharma further handled the ‘Question & Answer Session’ where participants raised their questions and the resource person gave clarity on it. “Investor Awareness Programme.”

Principal Sir inaugurated the session by congratulating the BCOM department for the initiative & talking about the importance of the Investor Awareness and the benefits expected from the same. He also thanked Ms. Ayushi Gandhi for taking out time and agreeing to interact with the audience. Asst. Prof. Vijay Vishwakarma introduced the guest speaker to the audience and gave the platform to her for the discussion on the topic ‘Investor Awareness’. Ms. Ayushi talked about various investment options in the Stock market. She also gave necessary details on Opening and usage of Trading Account which is needed to invest in the stock market. She also highlighted on investment and returns that can be generated through Mutual Fund schemes and further explained how Mutual Fund functioning takes place. Asst. Prof. Taqdis Pawale further handled the ‘Question & Answer’ session, where the participants took advice from the guest speaker on various topics like key stocks to invest, minimum amount required for investment and crypto currency. Multi-Disciplinary National Level E-Conference

The Department of Accountancy and Financial Management in Collaboration with Department of Commerce, University of Mumbai organized Multi-Disciplinary National Level E-Conference on 30th September, 2021. The theme of the Conference was ‘Pandemic Induced Creative Disruptions: Issues, Challenges and Prospects.

The Conference started off with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Shri B R Shetty Chairman(PEC), Prof. Dr. Sangeeta Pawar, HOD-Department of Commerce, University of Mumbai, Prin.Dr Sridhara Shetty and other dignitaries . Principal Dr. Sridhara Shetty welcomed all the dignatories and the participants from other colleges.

Prof. Vijay Vishwakarma, Convener of the Conference, briefed about the Conference, Quality of Papers received and about the Conference Journals which was followed by Introduction of the Chief Guest by Prof. Sandesha Shetty, Vice Principal. Shri B R Shetty Chairman(PEC) delivered his Presidential Remarks and Released the Conference Journals. Our Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Sangeeta Pawar, HOD-Department of Commerce, as she gave the keynote address, showcased an overview of the Conference Theme on how Covid-19 has impacted different sectors, especially education and how we as a teaching fraternity can help the society and economy to bounce back in the long run and how research in these areas can help the nation at large.

Dr. Liji Santosh, Vice Principal and IQAC Coordinator gave the Vote of Thanks.

Total 75+ research papers were received out of which 68 were selected.

Orientation session on N-LIST and accessing the digital library resources

The library centre’s orientation session on N-LIST and accessing the digital library resources of the college for the B.Com students was organized on 7th July, 2021 from 11.20 AM to 12.20 PM. Ms. Debbie James welcomed and opened the session. Mrs. Smitha Ravindranath informed the students about the need and purpose of a digital library and also demonstrated how one must access the various resources, such as journals, e-books, magazines, and study material through the login ID and password provided to each student. She further explained the difference between gaining authentic knowledge from these resources rather than relying on a Google search. 113 students attended the session and gave positive feedback. The session ended with opening the room for questions and doubts that the students may have had and a vote of thanks.

“ITR FILING FOR THE ASSESSMENT YEAR 2021-2022 w.r.t INDIVIDUAL ASSESSEES"

Department of Accountancy and Financial Management organised this online National Level Webinar on “ITR FILING FOR THE ASSESSMENT YEAR 2021-2022 w.r.t INDIVIDUAL ASSESSEES" to enable participants to file their own ITR returns online on the new income tax filing portal. The event had taken place at 12:00 pm. The event started with the Welcome address by Principal Dr. Sridhara Shetty. Asst. Prof. CA Zainab Rangwala introduced the Resource Persons and Prof. John Menezes did the compering for the webinar. The vote of thanks was given by Asst. Prof. Komal Tiwari.

The session was practically conducted and very well explained by the resource persons. They initially discussed the dates for ITR filing and various ITR Forms for assesses. They also discussed the old tax regime and new tax Regime and key documents – last year’s returns, bank account statements, Form-16 and Form 26AS . This was followed by a Practical online filing process- starting from registration on the portal to the final return, which was very well demonstrated. Various queries were also answered to the satisfaction of the participants. A google form was created for taking the feedback of the participants. Around 97 participants attended the webinar. Participants were quite happy and found the session very helpful, having practical relevance.

Investor Awareness Programme

Vice Principal Asst Prof. Sandesha Shetty welcomed Resource person Mr.Sanjay Nunes (Asst Manager, CDSL) and Dr. Riya Nathani (Trainer, Krisha Foundation) and gave them the platform to guide the students on the topic of the webinar. The resource person gave detailed explanations on Investment Schemes, Investment Elements, Share market as well as the Dos and Don'ts of Investment. Asst Prof. Richa Sharma further handled the ‘Question & Answer Session’ where participants raised their questions and the resource person gave clarity on it. Vice Principal and B.Com Coordinator Asst Prof Utkarsh Kapadia proposed a vote of thanks to both the Resource Person Mr. Sanjay Nunes and Dr. Riya Nathani for taking out time and guiding the students on the Investment Avenues, Stock Market as well as Investment Process. Data Driven Decision Making

An IBS Session on ‘Data Driven Decision Making’ was organised for the TYBCom Students of the Department of Accountancy and Financial Management on 31st July, 2021 from 8:55 AM onwards on Zoom. The resource person for the event was Dr. Vanita Joshi, IBS, Mumbai.

The session was primarily organized to inculcate an awareness about and show the importance of Data Driven Decision Making amongst students in today’s market and to bridge the gap between theory based education and the realities of the industry. The resource person interactively led the session, overing a range of topics such as Big Data, Data Analysis, Data Visualization, Research tools for DDDM.

50 students, 20 male and 30 females attended the session and gave positive feedback. The questions raised by students at the end of the session were discussed elaborately. Overall, the session was a great success.


Counselling Centre Orientation Session

The counselling centre orientation session for the B.Com and BBI students was organized on 5th July, 2021 from 10.20 to 11.20 AM. Ms. Debbie James welcomed and opened the session. Ms. Natasha Mehta then led a beautiful session through interactive activities like the “tear a corner of the paper'' activity and the inducing weight on your hand activity, to bring out important truths. She explained that counselling primarily is about thought, feelings and behaviour. She also introduced the theme of the year- keep learning, keep growing. The session ended with a relaxation session by playing an audio, where she asked the students to calm their minds. Ms. Mehta also introduced the plan to have a mental health club and encouraged the students to be a part of it. She then opened the floor to questions, where she addressed issues raised by students about loss and grief, suicide, mental health, anxiety and fears, and how to deal with these sensitive issues. There were approximately 238 students, and a few teachers as well, present for the session. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Taqdis Pawle, feedback from the students was also collected.

Department of Accountancy and Financial Management organised this online Intercollegiate Webinar on - 'Sourcing and recruitment - Challenges and prospects for Millennials' to educate the participants about current industry practices and the challenges & prospects of sourcing and recruitment. The webinar started at 5.00 pm. Ms. Mariyammal Kumar from FYB.Com welcomed Vice- Principal and B.Com Coordinator Asst. Prof. Sandesha Shetty, all Faculty members, our esteemed resource person – Ms. Shraddha Shetty and the participants.
