I was born in Crodo in 1885 and studied at the seminary of Novara, where my teachers noticed my lively intelligence. I became a priest in 1908 and started my pastoral work as a coadjutor. In 1937, I became the parish priest of Varzo and later of Domodossola. Beyond my religious duties, I had many interests. I was a pioneer of motorcycling but had to give it up after an accident cost me an eye. I also promoted film screenings, believing in their educational value. People said I was kind and well-loved, but I also had a strong determination, like a true mountain man. During World War II, I witnessed the dramatic events in Ossola. I was seen as a wise mediator, always trying to help my community. In August 1944, I bravely drove a truck to Gravellona Toce, passing through checkpoints to bring 60 quintals of flour to feed the starving people of Domodossola. On 9th September 1944, I organized a crucial meeting between German and fascist commanders and partisan leaders Dionigi Superti and Alfredo di Dio, hoping to prevent more bloodshed. The next day, Domodossola was temporarily free from Nazi-fascist control. To keep the memory of those years alive, I wrote a book called The Ossola in the Storm. I passed away in Domodossola in 1961.
