is to facilitate the building of a foundation for life-long learning and a love of learning. I will provide a safe, secure, and loving environment to educate and encourage the whole student. I will also work towards helping each student to be and do their best, and towards inspiring them to not only know their faith, but to live it. As SMS Scotties, we will have 'GRIT' and 'Be the Peace' while learning to be leaders.
I am originally from the Philadelphia area (Bucks County) and earned my BS in Education from Bloomsburg University in PA, but I have now spent more years in Harford County than in my hometown! I taught Middle School Social Studies in Harford County for 6 years and earned my Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Towson University before moving to Arizona, where I taught High School Social Studies for 3 years while my husband was in the Marine Corps and stationed at Yuma Proving Ground. We then moved back to Maryland and I stayed home for several years with my own small class, our 4 children: Nathan, Anna, Laura, and Matthew. All 4 of my children have now graduated from Saint Margaret School! My older two are now in college, and both of my younger two attend The John Carroll High School.
SMS has become our extended family over the years. I volunteered here for 12 years and started working part-time at SMS 8 years ago as a part-time Instructional Assistant and daily substitute. I was excited to return to the classroom for the 2019-2020 school year. The Archdiocesan Theme for that year was: The Year to Lead, "I have called you by name." Isaiah 43:1. That theme was personally relevant to me as I truly believe that God has called me by name to return to teaching his children here at Saint Margaret School. I feel very blessed to be working in this school community, and I am honored to be teaching your children.
