The Lincoln Book Club returns to the LMS Library on Wednesday, September 14th (3:15-4:15). Join Ms. GGMc each month for reading and discussion around books connected to the theme "...hope to all, despair to none" (Abraham Lincoln). Our first selection is the novel in verse, Rez Dog. Native American author Joseph Bruchac sets this modern-day story of family, tradition, and hope at the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Bring your own copy or borrow one. Finish the book for our next meeting on September 28, same times and same place.
I hope to see you for our first meeting on Tuesday, September 14th from 3:15-4:15. Bring your copy of Under the Mesquite by Guadalupe Garcia McCall. Several copies are available in our local libraries, including the Santa Monica Public Library!
Due to my serious knee injury, I can not make the first Jigsaw Jungle book club meeting. I hope I might be able to meet on 10/12 and then later in the month, if you want to! Please email me (ggies-mclaughlin@smmusd.org) if you have the book and were planning to read this book with the Lincoln Book Club.
The Lincoln Book Club (LBC) is back!
All students are invited to read a "book a month" with Ms. GGMc and the LBC. Let's meet in the Lincoln Library for our first meeting to begin the award-winning novel in verse, Under the Mesquite. Bring your own copy (several are available in our libraries), if you can. Finish this short book and come prepared to discuss Lupita's courage on Tuesday September 21st--Same time, same place.
In conjunction with the City of Santa Monica's "Hispanic Heritage Month and a Celebration of the Latino Identity," let's find the hope in Guadalupe Garcia McCall's realistic story.
Can't make the first meeting? Then be on the look out for future LBC meetings which typically meet the first and third Tuesday of each month.
Due to the worldwide Pandemic, I must focus my time, energy, and bandwidth (literally) to teach my virtual ELA classes. Our LBC is currently suspended at this time. Please accept my sincerest apology. But, join our Library Staff with their various book club opportunities posted in your LMS Library GoogleClassrooms!

The status of our Lincoln Book Club is undetermined for the 2020/2021 school year. If you read with us last year and were looking forward to the LBC during Distance Learning, then please reach out to Ms. GGMc. It is important to know if there is an interest to continue our club online. Please email Ms. GGMc at: ggies-mclaughlin@smmusd.org
Take care!
Thank you Lincoln and Roosevelt readers!
