My husband, Brian and our children, Andrea and Jacob are grateful to be part of the SMMA community this school year. I am a career chef of 18 years, my most recent adventure being the cafeteria manager at St. Simon School while also teaching the middle school cooking elective. I love to be outdoors playing volleyball and softball and I am an avid puzzler: jigsaw, crossword, you name it! I'm looking forward to using my life experiences to teach our students how to navigate life in a meaningful way with faith at the center.
This year in the STEM Lab for K-5, we’ll be working on:
The 4 C’s of STEM: collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking
Problem solving through hands-on application: building challenges, earth science exploration, and team games
Coding/typing skills
Students in grades 6-8 will have the opportunity to learn valuable life skills for their middle school career and beyond:
Interpersonal skills: introducing yourself, conversation basics, body language decoded
Study skills: note-taking, organization, time-management, responsibility, ownership of mistakes
Financial literacy, budgeting, house-keeping skills
The overarching principle in the lab is, “We learn by doing.”
