GHS 7th Mathematics

Welcome!

         My name is Sheryl Paschall Taylor, and I am the new 7th grade math teacher at Gordonsville High School. I am so excited to be a part of this faculty and look forward to a great year with your children as my students. We are going to grow so MUCH together!

         I wanted to share a little about myself and then give you some information about my teaching experience.

I was born and raised right here in Smith County on a farm in Gordonsville by my parents, Eddie and Brenda Paschall, and with my older brother Brent. I graduated from GHS in 2002. In June 2009, I married my husband, Beau Taylor. We have a 13-year-old son, Marshall, and an 11-year-old daughter, Lizzy. We live in Gordonsville.

  I graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in December 2005 with my Bachelor’s degree in Child Development with a minor in Adolescent Health. I continued to study at UTK until May 2007, when I received my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. This earned me certification to teach pre-K through fourth grade.  After leaving Knoxville, I moved to Murfreesboro to teach for Murfreesboro City Schools at Bradley Academy. While there, I taught first grade for four years, from 2007 to 2011. I returned to school in 2010 for my Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I graduated from Tennessee Tech in December 2011. 

After leaving Bradley Academy, I returned to Smith County in 2012 to teach at Forks River Elementary, where I taught first grade for 12 more years before moving to 5th and 6th grade Math and Science. During my time at FRS, I completed coursework to add the following endorsements to my current teaching license: Special Education Interventionist K-12, Special Education Comprehensive K-12, Middle School and High School Mathematics, 6-12 English Language Arts, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Computer Science. I most recently acquired my  Instructional Leadership License (administration) in the spring of 2025. This is my 20th year of teaching!

  My favorite part of teaching is watching the students grow and learn throughout the year. I work hard to ensure that every student is accommodated, no matter what their needs may be. I strive to individualize my teaching to ensure that each student is being challenged on an appropriate level. I set my expectations high because I know students will rise to meet those expectations. I encourage all students to always try their best and be their brightest.
