The mission of the National FFA Organization is to make "a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education." While FFA often is associated with farming alone, the organization also explores areas such as animal science, plant science, environmental conservation, agricultural mechanics and technology, food science, and agribusiness. Members build valuable skills through hands-on learning, competitions, community service, and leadership opportunities.
At Smith County Middle School, FFA introduces students to the exciting world of agriculture while helping them develop confidence, responsibility, teamwork, and communication skills. Middle school members can participate in leadership conferences and conventions, Career and Leadership Development Events (CDEs and LDEs), community service projects, and Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs) that prepare them for future success in high school, college, and beyond.
