Hey there! My name is Mrs. Janie, and I am so excited to have your children in Physical Education this year.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from California State University, Chico and my Master's in Education from Brandman University. After student teaching at the high school level, I landed my first elementary teaching job in 2017. This year marks my 10th year of teaching PE, with 9 of those years dedicated to K-5 students. My primary goal is for every student to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to stay physically active for a lifetime.
Growing up, I loved watching and helping my mom in her special education classroom. Seeing how wonderful she was with her students, and the bright smiles on their faces, showed me what it truly means to make a lasting difference in a child's life. When I first started college, I planned on becoming a physical therapist. However, after taking an intro to elementary physical education course, I fell in love with the field and knew instantly that this was my calling.
Watching students develop new skills, master challenges, and gain self-confidence drives me to be a better teacher every day. In our class, we don't just focus on fitness; we actively practice teamwork, cooperation, respect, and personal responsibility. These are essential life skills for their future. I am committed to making the gym, field, and classroom safe, inclusive spaces where students lift each other up, learn, and have fun together!
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I am here to support and encourage these amazing kids, and I am truly honored to have the opportunity to teach them this year!
