We are a fully student run club!
We are a student-led nordic ski club and we welcome skiers of all abilities from Smith College and the Five Colleges! The purpose of the Smith College Nordic Ski Club is to create a space to share the excitement and love so many of us have for cross-country skiing and provide opportunities for fun outdoor adventure during the winter.
As a club, we hope to create excursions for people to go skiing! During the winter, we hope to make trips most weekends with snow. Here are a few other goals we have:
We hope to make this accessible to all people who want to learn to cross country ski! This looks like offering or finding lessons for those who want to learn and working with the Smith Outdoor Adventure Program to find gear for new skiers.
Eventually we hope to work towards getting involved locally and promoting skiing with young girls (mentor skiing)
We race under the Smith College name (though this is not required to be part of the club). This looks like registering and competing under the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference.
During the fall and spring, practices will consist of semi regular runs/hikes/fun activities/strength training.
Create relationships with local ski areas and ski shops to get access to gear and trails.

Skiing is an expensive sport and as a club, it is one of our primary goals to lower barriers of entry and make it as accessible and affordable as possible for all of our members! If you are interested in helping us accomplish this mission of an inclusive and supportive environment, please consider a financial donation. This will help us cover the costs like trail passes, racing fees, food, wax and supplying skis for our members to use.
