Contrasts
From where I come from,
Cold days are made to stay in bed, yet here people play in the snow.
The day has multiple colors, but here everything is peacefully white.
It can never really be known how excitingly cold it gets, but it’ll never get as cold as water with ice cubes from restaurants...
From where I come from,
There’s a different excitement in running when you’re trying to cross the street
But here you feel the same excitement while you admire the line of vehicles waiting only for you to cross
From where I come from, Bathrooms are spacious and silent, yet here your legs can be seen and there’s a whole spectacle when the toilet is activated
From where I come from,
Rushing to get home when the sun is down is the rule of thumb,
Yet here there’s nothing to worry about other than holding the door for the next to arrive
From where I come from,
In order to get things done, one must go out
But in this new place, everything seems to be a click button away
From where I come from,
Dogs are skinny and homeless
Here they wear clothes and shoes
From where I come from,
Family is the refugee for bad moments
But here family can mean so many things
From where I come from, we never throw away things,
yet here I wonder if there’s anything that can’t be thrown away?
It’s a world of contrasts.
And there’s beauty in those contrasts
Home and new home are so different, but I feel loved at both places, and that’s enough for now.
