The scenery lingers just for you
西楼着意吟赏,何必问更筹?
Up in the Western Chamber, we relish poetry and the moon
Why ask when the bellman tolls?
唤起一天明月,照我满怀冰雪,浩荡百川流。
(We’ll) call out the moon and it will brighten the sky
Reflect the ice and snow that rest in me
And melt into a hundred rivers’ mighty flow
鲸饮未吞海,剑气已横秋。
We inhale wine like whales; fail to swallow the sea
Our swords have already slid into the autumn glow
野光浮,天宇迥,物华幽。
The pure moonlight floats above the field
The sky and the universe far and high
The scenery quiet and mellow
中州遗恨,不知今夜几人愁?
Isn’t the lingering remorse of losing the Central Prefectures
making many people’s hearts hollow?
谁念英雄老矣?不道功名蕞尔,决策尚悠悠。
Who remembers that the heroes have grown old?
The achievement is tiny; our progress is slow
此事费分说,来日且扶头!

Tomorrow, let’s drink once more
Until our heads are heavy and faces aglow!
老君曰,大道无形,生育天地。大道无情,运行日月。大道无名,长养万物。吾不知其名,强名曰道。夫道者,有清有浊。有动有静。天清地浊。天动地静。男轻女浊。男动女静。降本流末。而生万物。清者浊之源。动者静之基。人能常清静。天地悉皆归。
According to Laojun: “The Greatest Dao is shapeless, for it gives birth to Heaven and the Earth. The Greatest Dao is emotionless, for it moves the Sun and the Moon. The Greatest Dao is nameless, for it nourishes the ten thousand lives long. Without knowing the name of The Greatest Dao, I am forced to call it Dao. Speaking of Dao, it contains both pureness and turbidness. Both movement and stillness. Heaven is pure; the Earth is turbid. Heaven is moving; the Earth is still. Men are pure; women are turbid. Men are moving; women are still. (Therefore, Dao) returns to the Source, (and then) cycles again to the End. This is how Dao gives birth to ten thousand lives. Pureness is the source of turbidness; movement is the base of stillness. If humans can stay pure and still, Heaven and the Earth will turn to them (for their understanding of Dao).”
