Booster Clubs

Shadow Mountain Matador Parent Teacher Club

We make it easy to start and run a

BOOSTER CLUB at Shadow Mountain!

What is a Booster Club?  A group of volunteer parents who help support (boost) the efforts of teachers and coaches with a school club, sport, and/or activity.  Through fundraising, organizational and communication support, etc., the Booster Clubs help maximize students high school experience.

With your booster membership to SMHS PTC, we file all the IRS and state paperwork. We keep your booster club up and running year after year.  SMHS PTC  has a group tax exemption from the IRS meaning that when PTC approves a new club member, that member is immediately recognized as having 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status under SMHS PTC's group exemption.  SMHS PTC booster club members do not need to file IRS Form 1023EZ or 1023, and do not have to pay any IRS filing fees outside of the membership fee. Additionally SMHS PTC will file the Arizona annual corporate report.  We provide you with a group sponsorship letter for the school year.

Additionally, your SMHS PTC booster membership entitles you with the district required liability insurance for volunteers. Your booster club may obtain its own policy, if you'd prefer. The school insurance coverage does not cover any booster clubs, because booster clubs are considered to be separate legal entities from the school, whether you are incorporated or not.

Lastly, your club is entitled to promote company matches.  You'll need to ensure that your club is indicated in the memo line of the contribution.

Please contact our treasurer@smhsptc.com to learn more about becoming a member without becoming your own entity.

NOTE: PTC is offering ALL clubs on campus 20% of the Family Membership fee for each family that joins the PTC and the member designates their affiliation with your club!
