About Me

Welcome to Social Studies class!

We call it ~SOCIAL STUDIES ~ because it is much more than just memorizing dates and historical facts. The study of history is truly the study of how we have built relationships with one another throughout our histories. Studying how societies have functioned (and failed!) helps us learn from the successes and mistakes of our ancestors and prepares us to face each day with a better understanding of ourselves as both individuals and members of the global community.

My love of history goes back as far as I can remember. I hold a bachelor's degree in history with a focus on World Religions and African-American History from Canisius College and a master's degree in Adolescent Education/Social Studies also from Canisius College. I am New York State certified to teach Social Studies in grades 5-12 and absolutely love teaching middle school.

I lead our middle school National Student Council Association, serve as the 8th grade adviser and am an assistant coach on our grade 3-8 track team.

Outside of the classroom I spend time with my family and try to be outdoors whenever possible. I am also a huge dog lover and am a dedicated volunteer dog walker at the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter.

I hope you enjoy your time with me as much as I enjoy my time in school with you and look forward to many exciting new adventures and lessons throughout the year!
