Hello! My name is Meagan Wiedmeier, and I am thrilled to be teaching fifth grade for the 2026–2027 school year! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share a little about my background.
I was born and raised in Boise, Idaho—about 2,800 miles away, near Washington and Oregon—and attended Catholic school through high school. I earned my degree from the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!) and spent 18 years working in healthcare. My final 10 years were in Rheumatology, where I worked as a musculoskeletal sonographer and office nurse. I thoroughly enjoyed my career and the many meaningful relationships I built during that time.
In 2017, my husband and I moved to North Carolina with our children to pursue his career opportunities. After spending two years in the Research Triangle area, we relocated to Wilmington in 2019 and quickly fell in love with this welcoming coastal community. We have three children: Katie, who is in 11th grade; Fletcher, who is in 4th grade; and Grant, who passed away in 2021. We also share our home with three dogs—Duke, Ellie, and Cooper—a guinea pig named Frankie, and lots of fish!
Our family has been blessed to be part of the St. Mark Catholic Church and School community since 2019. From the moment we first toured the campus, we all agreed that it felt like home. As a fun coincidence, St. Mark even has the same school colors and plaid pattern that I wore growing up in parochial schools (Go Crusaders)!
I have always loved math and science and enjoy sharing that enthusiasm with my students. Each year, I look forward to fostering curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning in the classroom. I am excited to bring the subjects of science and social studies tyo life for your students this year!
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time at the beach, kayaking, swimming, paddle boarding, camping, hiking, horseback riding, and just about anything outdoors. I also love cheering on my children at their various activities, including soccer, volleyball, and whatever their new interest is. I am an active member of our local Scottish community and attend many Highland Games throughout the Southeast. I am a dedicated Pilates enthusiast and became a certified Pilates instructor in 2024. I also started my journey towards a Master's Degree in Teaching and have my sights on graduating in winter 2027.
I am looking forward to getting to know your children and partnering with your family for a wonderful school year. It's going to be a great year! 😊
