8/28/2025 - First Meeting

New President - Zaniyah | New Vice President - Brae

Started with the most people MUN has ever has! Offered free snacks, introduced everyone, and went over what we're going to be doing in MUN and how. Decided first topic will be: What Restaurant Should Be In Chopticon? to warm everyone up and introduce new topics. 

9/4/2025 - What Restaurant Should Be in Chopticon? 

Everyone has picked a restaurant to represent and we start a mini-simulation of the discussion phrase of a MUN simulation. Went over the following vocabulary: Chair, Meeting Adjournments, Seeking The Floor, and Unmoderated/Moderated Caucuses

Started the resolution process for the topic Which Resturant Should Be In Chopticon. 

9/16/24( Officer Meeting):

James called the meeting to order at 12:42 pm

• We will be changing the Webmaster Chronicle name to Publicist 

• Dr. G will be sending out an email for more info on the MUN Remind

• Brae will be creating an Instagram for MUN

• Brae is fixing the MUN website currently

• Mr. Henderson informed MUN that the St. Mary's County MUN conference will be taking place and that more information will be provided
• Mock debates about the flavors and validity of ice cream took place in order to help improve the skills of new members
• Working on more formal arguments and how to write resolutions were discussed
• It was noted that membership has grown to over 20 members

• Members performed a team-building activity in which they researched a country and designed a new flag or logo for that country.

• Members decided the debate topic shall be set to the "Israeli-Palestinian Conflict"
• Members chose their countries

• MUN revisited the policies and principles of how MUN works
• New members chose their countries
• Members made placards for their countries

December 1, 2022.

• Members debated the chosen topic
• It was noted that you should stick to the real-world beliefs of your country

December 8, 2022.

• Many school events led to a low amount of members being present
• Members present discussed ways to fundraise for the club
• President Ava Ciabattoni and the Club Sponsor, Dr. Guidry, appointed James Jenkins to the role of Webmaster. The updated officer's list is the following:

January 5, 2023.

• Discussed the SMAMUN (St. Mary's Association of MUN) Conference and how to sign up
• Discussed the potential trip to a legislative session in Annapolis in March, courtesy of Senator Jack Bailey
• Made aware that Ledo's Pizza has been contacted for fundraising opportunities, but has yet to respond.
• Continued debating the chosen topic
• Members noted the aggressive debating, with many countries, specifically countries with diplomatic drawbacks, taking jabs at each other's global actions. Members also noted that multiple countries were referred to as terrorist organizations.

• Members noted that particular countries attempted to filibuster the meeting by talking for extensive amounts of time.

February 2, 2023.

• Members did research for the upcoming SMAMUN Conference
• Miniature flags were presented for each country in MUN courtesy of our club sponsor, Dr. Guidry.

February 9 2023.

• Continued debating the Israel-Palestinian Conflict.
• Members debated a resolution Promoting a two state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
• The resolution was amended to remove the following clauses:
  • Fines any country that violates Operative Clause 31 in an amount of $1 billion.
  • Censures any country that fails to pay this payment, and expels them from the United Nations after 3 instances of failing to meet the requirements in Operative Clause 33

• The resolution was amended in the following ways:
  • Mandates the United Nations to provide $1 billion  500 million from the International monetary fund as a single payment to Turkey. 
  • Mandates the United Nations United States to provide $500 million from the International monetary fund as a single payment to Turkey.
  • Mandates the United States to provide $500 million 11 billion from the International monetary fund as a single payment to Turkey
• The resolution was passed unanimously

February 10 2023.

• Members attended the SMAMUN (St Mary's Association of Model United Stations) Conference

February 11 2023.

• Members attended the SMAMUN (St Mary's Association of Model United Stations) Conference
• Congratulations to James Jenkins on winning "Best Delegate" at the conference representing the country of Sudan!

February 16 2023.

• Members voted on the new topic and decided on "Counter Terrorism."
• Members randomized their countries to make the simulation more interesting and get a look at different viewpoints on the topic.

April 13 2023.

• The following officers were voted into their respectable positions

• President Ash Delahay and the Club Sponsor, Dr. Guidry, appointed Abbi Flaherty to position of Multimedia Chronicler.
• Members agreed that a Charter should be written and wet over rules and procedures that should be part of MUN

• Members looked over the MUN Charter written by Vice President James Jenkins and agreed upon by all members unanimously.
• Members spoke on possible ways to raise funds for MUN.
• Members went over possible topics to debate upon in the future.

• The first meeting of the Founding Members of the MUN

• MUN members accessed the "Remind" app in order to receive notifications and important information related to MUN
• MUN's first debate was held relating to the chosen topic with all rules, informal and formal, adhered to

May 5, 2022.

• Rules and ways to research were discussed
• It was noted that members have become more acquainted with the rules and processes of MUN
• Debates continued on the chosen topic

May 12, 2022.

• NAIMUN in Washington D.C. formally invited members to a conference in February
• Old Dominion University MUNC invited members to a conference in February as well
• It was noted that Mr. Henderson is looking for members who want leadership positions in the County Conference to work with him as we anticipate working with Leonardtown Highschool

May 19, 2022.

• A contingency lunch enacted by the Principal led to the cancellation of the meeting

May 26, 2022.

• A goal of membership was set at 25 members in order to participate in the MUN events in Washington D.C. and Old Dominion University
• Debates on the chosen topic continued, and members began writing proposals for each respective country

June 2, 2022.

• Resolutions were refined and arguments were shortened
• Members discussed ways to approach next year

• Members finished their resolutions
• Members passed the PUKUS Resolution for Mitigating the Spread of Diseases in Urban Areas during Health Crises, with the following sponsors:

• Members discussed and planned an agenda for the 2022-2023 school year, deciding that a balance of fun and preparing for the conferences need to be met, and created end goals to be reached for the 2022-2023 school year to focus the group on achieving specific objectives.
