The Freshman Academy is a support to help students transition to high school. After students successfully complete their freshman year in the academy, there are several pathways to finish their secondary education journey.
In the academy, our team meets daily to discuss students' interests, readiness for more rigorous curriculum, or any continued supports that should be considered to promote success. Presentations for the Tech Center and Fairlead Academy are among the options that we offer and discuss during the course of the year to help students have educational autonomy. If students aren't interested in Tech Center or need the continued support at Fairlead, we design their schedule for a full day here at CHS with their guidance counselor.
After a student's freshman year, all students have the opportunity to apply to Fairlead Academy.
We provide positive learning experiences to help students learn respect and responsibility. Fairlead is for Grades 10-12 only.
Our small class sizes and individualized attention from teachers help prepare our students to be successful in high school and beyond.
ATEx is a 2-credit elective offered at the Forrest Center. Students will have the opportunity to participate in an in-depth exploration of 4 of the programs offered at the Forrest Center. Each marking period will introduce one of the four selected programs. This program is dependent upon: grades, behavior, attendance, and attitude.
The Tech Center has 22 programs which prepare 10-12th grade students for a career directly out of high school, a trade, a 2-year college, or a 4-year college. Students will attend for 2-3 periods and then spend the rest of the day at CHS for their core classes.
