Elementary School PE/Health

CPCS PE and Health will provide rigorous, creative and diverse learning environment where everyone comes together to develop a whole child who is self-confidence, healthy and a knowledgeable global citizen.

Welcome to Elementary School PE and Health. Please look through our site and enjoy the pictures of the activities we have done through the years! If you have any questions or great ideas to share please contact me at hbcalabro@smcps.org.

Dental Care/Taste Buds

2nd grade just learned about proper dental care and areas on the tongue that help you taste. Please note that students used recycled egg cartons to make this project an overwhelming success!

Come by and see our outdoor running/walking trail! Students have been hard at work this year remarking the trail for everyone to use. We are using recycled trees (aka mulch) to make the trail comfortable to run on each day.

4th grade students got to experience "Goat Yoga." Yoga is more fun with "Sky" and "Winks" around to help you do your moves!

CPCS was ONE of 544 schools in the entire United States to win this award! Our kids, parents, staff and community working together made this possible.

We start everyday with "Morning Walk." All of our CPCS family members are welcome to walk with us starting at 7:45 am. It is a great way to transition from home to school so that we are ready to learn! Students keep track of their mileage and attendance for prizes. Our goal this year is to beat last year's total of 19 million steps!

How do you start your day?

Each student has their own PE portfolio. All assessments and activities that involve writing are kept neatly organized. All portfolios are available for you to see during portfolio days. Books will be sent home at the end of the year.

Our students worked with Artists in Residence to create beautiful artwork for the gym. Used boat sails were donated the community around us and our students "up-cycled" them into a PE teacher's dream. Each sail is approximately 30 feet tall! Please enjoy the pictures below.

Monarch Butterflies done by 2nd grade students during electives.

Rockfish- done by middle school student and Italian exchange students.

The sail on the left was done by middle school students. The sail on the right was done by 3rd grade students during electives. Can you guess the bird by it's habitat?

All of our students K-4th grade learn about their bones and muscles. Ms. Calabro posts the "muscle of the month" or the "bone of the week" just outside her door for all to see!

"Lefty" has helped us learn a lot about what we look like on the inside.

Drums Alive gets us moving! We exercise and learn to count the beats of a song so that we can dance along!

Bike Rodeo!

Students of all ages attend our annual bike rodeo to brush up on their cycling skills.

Ride your bike through our bubble bike wash!

Here students Up"Cycled" old tires to make door mats that will last forever!

Thank you SMECO for putting up our shade for our outdoor classroom!
