As the school year enters the third marking period, the Class of 2026 has shared important information regarding prom, senior activities, and upcoming plans. While some details are still being finalized, there is already plenty for seniors to look forward to as spring approaches.
One of the biggest announcements is the official prom date. Prom will be held on Saturday, May 16th, from 6-10 p.m., according to the Class of 2026 officers. The venue will be Hayes Auction Services, a large barn-style space located about 20 minutes from Chopticon.
The open layout allows for flexible decorating options, though specific decorations are still being planned by the class officers. Ticket prices are also still being determined and are expected to be released in April, closer to the event. Food will be available at prom, and the officers are looking for ways to make the 2026 prom a new and memorable experience while still maintaining elements from 2025 that were enjoyable. There are plans to gather student input, including song requests.
Beyond prom, several more informal senior “tradition” activities are still in the planning stages. The senior picnic is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26th, immediately following graduation practice, with more details to be shared alongside graduation information. Barn painting will take place on the same day as the picnic. To stay connected with seniors, class officers encourage students to engage through social media and listen to school announcements.
The official Class of 2026 webpage also lists the following mandatory events for seniors:
Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 9:00 am - 12:00 pm: Required Graduation Practice #1
Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 9:00 am - 12:00 pm: Required Graduation Practice #2
Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 9:00 am - 12:00 pm: Required Graduation Practice #3
Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 10:00 am: Chopticon High School Graduation
Fundraisers are another topic still in discussion. While nothing is set in stone, class officers expect to host at least one more fundraiser in the spring. In the past, fundraisers have played an important role in financing senior events such as prom. Students are encouraged to participate in fundraisers once plans are announced to make these events possible.
