Chopticon Staff and Students Take the Stage in The Addams Family & Upcoming Newtowne Players Shows in Season 23
By Aiden Sims
The Newtowne Players is currently showing the first show of their 23rd season, “The Addams Family”. The show is running from Friday, October 2nd until Sunday, October 25th. Tickets are $20 and $17 for seniors (65+), students, or military. Make sure you find time to visit this family madness this month, as it enters its final weekend of shows.
The show is a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family; it features an original story and a dilemma that’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams (Madison Binkney), the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family—a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams (Brandon Maher) must do something he’s never done before—keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia (Pateley Bongiorni). Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
Many of our Staff, Students, and Alumni are involved in this production. Brandon Maher, our theatre teacher, plays Gomez Addams; Pateley Bongiorni, our school's choir director, plays Morticia Addams; and AnneMarie Karnbach, our orchestra teacher, is the pit director. We would also like to shout out two students, junior Jacob Culp and senior Tiger Thompson, who are both playing ancestors within the talented ensemble. One familiar face, Chopticon alumnus Kent (Indie) Hooven is also in the show as Lurch (the family butler).
