The following resources have been developed over time by either the network as a whole, or by various Collective Action Committees in the CBEEP Network.
Distance Learning Best Practices for Environmental Education Community Based Partners - Developed in Spring-Fall 2021
This toolkit shares best practices around how to deliver high quality virtual environmental education programs. The ideas stem from what partners learned in the COVID-19 era, but are also applicable to other times for disruption to learning such as climate related disruptions such as high heat, wildfire smoke, floods, etc.
K-12 Virtual Field Trips, Hands-On Activities and Storytime Resource Portal - Developed for Schools in Spring 2020
This set of resources was designed during COVID-19 shelter-in-place (Spring 2020) to support teachers to implement NGSS and the CA Environmental Principles and Concepts (EP&Cs) into their distance learning curriculum. The resources are catalogued by environmental theme (energy, water, waste, food, etc.) as well as grade level. While this was a project for Spring 2020, the resources remain useful and relevant.
Environmental Focus Area Scope and Sequence Example - Developed during 2019-20
The CBELP (now CBEEP) network worked together to identify standards aligned learning outcomes that funders and school administrators could expect if they support every student at every grade level to have an experience with a community based partner. The network developed the scope and sequence around five place based themes: Land Based Ecosystems, Watersheds, Marine Based Ecosystems, Food Systems, and Waste.
Green Guardians is a California-based education technology company dedicated to advancing environmental literacy as an activity-based and standards-linked paradigm in K-12 education across the United States and the world. In partnership with the California Environmental Literacy Initiative (CAELI), the San Mateo County Office of Education has helped to launch a filterable database of Community Based Environmental Education Partners - explore the database here: Green Guardians Community Based Partner Hub.
The Hub promotes environmental literacy by building educator and parent awareness of community-based partners (CBP) and their products and services and fosters educator-CBP relationships for increased student enrichment and engagement.
