Mission

Our mission is to help global social sector organizations start, sustain, and scale their impact. We believe that “Talent Drives Impact” and we are committed to supporting talented social entrepreneurs and professionals who devote their careers to impact.

Our Approach

Smarter Good is a professional services firm for the social impact sector. Coming up on a decade of service to the social sector, Smarter Good was founded in San Francisco and the Philippines in 2012 by serial social entrepreneur and Ashoka Fellow Jane Leu.

We give social sector organizations and companies a way to organize and accomplish key fundraising and accounting activities that need to be done day-to-day. Unlike consulting and training services that only produce plans and conduct workshops, Smarter Good’s team of 70 does the work of creating pipelines and writing grant proposals, doing the bookkeeping and financial planning, and pushing forward growth by helping organizations and companies to build a strong infrastructure under their programs and services. Smarter Good’s services are delivered by professionals who are steeped in the social entrepreneurship space and knowledgeable about a wide diversity of social issue areas, as well as the context of under-resourced communities in the United States and lower resource countries and global emerging markets.

Our Clients

Smarter Good has worked with more than 100 nonprofit organizations or social enterprises with missions in education, health, economic development, employment, entrepreneurship and livelihoods, agriculture, financial inclusion, climate, youth and women’s empowerment, and racial equity and justice, among others. Our clients’ programs span the entire United States and globally, with the majority operating programs in California, New York, Texas, East Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Currently, about 65% of our client organizations are led by BIPOC women and men, and led by leaders who are locals of the communities they are serving. Smarter Good is also a women/BIPOC-led organization and we leverage this shared experience to help amplify the voices of all changemakers to make sure they get the resources their organizations need to succeed.
