Military Units

The military also known as the Armed Forces of Eldia are a full-time professional armed forces of Eldia on Paradis Island originally trained to deal with the Titans within and beyond the Walls. It was divided into three branches: the Survey Corps, which explores outside human territory to hostile areas in a bid for expansion; the Garrison, which patrols and maintains the Walls, keeping Titans out and acting as the first to engage the Titans if the gate is destroyed; and the Military Police Brigade, the top-ranking soldiers who serve as the personal guards for the king and maintain order within the Walls. Additionally, the Training Corps oversees the education and training of the recruits in order to join one of the aforementioned branches. After the truth about the Titans is revealed to the public, the Eldian military changes their focus to defending Paradis Island from aggression from Marley and other nations. It is now in the hands of the Yeagerists, who have changed the military logo and uniforms.

Training Corps

The Training Corps is the branch of the military dedicated to training and educating trainees to become members of the three main military branches.

Only the top ten graduates can apply to the Military Police Brigade, giving them the privilege of living in the Inner District. The other graduates can only choose between joining the Survey Corps and the Garrison.

Yeagerists

The Yeagerists are a rebel faction supported by civilians and soldiers from the Paradis military. Their initial goal was to reunite Eren Yeager with his half-brother Zeke, in order to ultimately assist the former in the activation of the Rumbling and to create the "New Eldian Empire". In the month following the Raid on Liberio, the Yeagerists conducted a military coup and took power within the Walls. By the year 857, the Yeagerists were reformed and merged into the Eldian Army.

Survey Corps

The Survey Corps was the branch of the Military most actively involved in direct Titan combat, Titan study, human expansion, and outside exploration. They had the best soldiers who are the most skilled in using vertical maneuvering equipment. Despite having little success, they still symbolized the "hope of mankind" with their insignia being known as the "Wings of Freedom." They hoped that someday, their efforts will change the world and they will be able to recover what has been taken away from humanity.

After the truth about the Titans is revealed, the Survey Corps turned its attention to fighting Marley and the outside world. After the Battle of Heaven and Earth had ended, the Survey Corps were then merged together with the other military branches under the control of the Yeagerists into one unified army branch.

The Military Police Brigade is the most prestigious military sector due to their work, which allows citizens to live safely within the inner Wall and access to abundant resources. Therefore, it has higher authority over other military sectors. However, in reality, it is the most corrupted military sector due to a lack of oversight compared to the other sectors of the military. Due to their misuse and abuse of power, the Military Police Brigade is also at odds with the Garrison and especially with the Survey Corps. Only the top ten alumni from trainee squads can apply for the Military Police Brigade. However, according to the conversation between Hitch Dreyse and Boris Feulner, there are other ways to get in the sector such as fraternization, favoritism, etc.

Garrison

The Garrison is the largest of the Military divisions which protects and maintains order within the Walls. Given the fatality rate of the Survey Corps and the limited entry of the Military Police Brigade, most soldiers join the Garrison. As they often have close contact with both Titans and human civilians, they are proficient over a wide variety of tasks such as Titan combat (defensive battles), cannons, security detail, crowd control, and rifle usage.

After the revelation of the true nature of the Titans, the Garrison was responsible for defending the coast of Paradis Island from Marley and foreign aggressions. After the Battle of Heaven and Earth had ended, the Garrison was merged together with the other military branches under the control of the Yeagerists into one unified army branch.
