Pickle Autopsy
(Solo Project)
This was our first project working for an actual client. Our job was to create pieces for another teacher's lab (called Pickle Autopsy) that would be able to be reused. I was working on making limb pieces, and I started by sketching out different designs. I was trying to make the pieces somewhat cartoonish but still proportional to pickels. In order to do this I used an average length for pickles, and began modeling based on this length. Another thing I had to focus on was making the piece that would allow the limbs to stick into the pickles. I based my designs on harpoons, and the pieces were able to stick into the pickle when I inserted them and rotated 90 degrees. Once I had the start of my arms/legs and barbs, I finished modelling the rest of the pieces and was able to do a final test.
Staff Project
(Group Project)
For this project, I worked with a partner to make a project for one of our staff members. My partner (Jenny A.) and I decided to work on making storage units for the breakout boxes for Ms. Sasaki. I worked on making storage for the different materials, and my partner worked on making storage for the locks to be used during breakout sessions. The first step in our design process was to draw our designs on paper and run them by our client for approval. Once we had a green light, we started modeling. With the models we were able to communicate more with our client and specify the design even further. When we were ready to print, however, the printers failed us at the last second. From here we had to repeat all the steps that we previously took, and luckily our client was really cool about the whole situation. Once we had our redesigns, we started printing and were able to send Ms. Sasaki the finished products.
Academy Reflection
(Solo Project)
This is was the pentultimate project for STREAM. Our job was to reflect on our time in STREAM, and create a presentation that detailed our experience. I started by writing my script because I thought it would make the slideshow portion easier, but I quickly realized that I wasn't 100% sure how to structure my script. We were instructed to go for a tone that was similar to TedTalks, but I had initially gone for a more serious tone. Part of what helped me get through this project is that I had a minor epiphany. I had a dream about the project where I had to present it with no script, and what I came up with in the dream was significantly better than what I had. From here, I used a similar structure and was able to finish my script. Another thing that really helped me out in this project was all of the support that I recieved from my peers. Everybody was really supportive, and when it finally came to recording I didn't feel that nervous.
STREAM Portfolio
(Solo Project)
This website is my final project for STREAM. I really enjoyed my experience in this community, and I'd especially like to thank Lawrence Tan, Jacob Stanley, Jenny Alvarez, for helping me out.
