Science

The Science adoption committee was comprised of teachers from SLUSD's elementary and secondary schools, and included representation from the Special Education department, English Language Development, alternative high school educational programs. The committee examined instructional materials in alignment with the California Science Framework and the Science Content Standards for California Public schools.

Process Overview and Timeline

August 4-6, 2020: The science adoption committee developed an evaluation tool/rubric to assess the quality of instructional materials.

September-October: The science committee met with publishers and conducted pilot lessons with student or materials reviews for each of the programs below. Each committee member completed the rubric individually and then compared observations with their peers for a final analysis and recommendation.
