The History/Social Science committee was comprised of teachers from SLUSD's primary and secondary schools, and included representation from the Special Education department, our Bilingual and Dual Language Immersion school sites, and English Language Development programs. The committee is examining instructional materials in alignment with the California History and Social Science Framework and the California State History Social Science Standards. The committee reviewed materials with a lens for how the curriculum supports teaching learning for anti-racism, equity, and social justice. The rubric/evaluation tool the committee developed towards this end is linked below.

August 4-6, 2020: The History/Social Science committee developed an evaluation tool/rubric to assess the quality of instructional materials.
September-October: The History/Social Science committee met with publishers and conducted pilot lessons or materials reviews for each of the programs below.
