Early College Credit refers to earning college/university credits while a student is in high school. Several learning models allow students to earn such credit. It is an umbrella term that encompasses early college and university opportunities that benefit students and meet their educational needs.
San Leandro Unified School District (SLUSD) students can earn Early College Credit through the following models:
SLUSD Dual Enrollment Courses: Courses coordinated by SLUSD, offered at the high schools during or after the school day.
AP or IB Assessments: Through passing scores on AP or IB exams (scores between 3 and 4).
Articulated Courses: Selected high school courses taken during the school day that are aligned with college credit.
Independent / Individual Dual Enrollment: Courses arranged independently by the student through a college or university.
DUAL ENROLLMENT
Earn College and High School Credit: Students earn college/university credit applicable toward a degree, while simultaneously earning high school credit and meeting graduation requirements.
Improved Academic Outcomes: Participation in Dual Enrollment is associated with:
Higher high school retention and completion rates.
