Welcome to STREAM Academy at San Leandro High School. We are an innovative program tailored for 10th to 12th graders with a passion for Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. At STREAM, students engage in dynamic learning experiences that empower them to apply their knowledge and skills to tackle real-world challenges while fostering a sense of community.
STREAM is a great place to build community with like minded people. Students take classes together, go on fields trips, and hang out with the same group of people for three years. You also benefit by having teachers that are committed to building relationships with you over three years.
STREAM students are required to take 2 electives each year with fellow STREAM students. See the ACADEMICS page for more details. Members are also encourage to participate in field trips, community events, and student leadership.
YES! Joining STREAM means that you are interested in technology and engineering courses. It also means that you want to build community over time with people that share similar interest. Taking STREAM classes supports both of those goals.
We love ambitious students! Consider taking summer classes and/or dual enrollment after school. These are especially good options for PE, foreign language, and mathematics classes.
Additionally, you do not have to be part of the academy to take many of these courses. You can take non-academy sections at any time. There may be some differences in projects and pacing, but the content is the same.
You can take any AP Classes that you want as long as they do not interfere with the required STREAM Academy classes. In other words, you cannot choose to take an AP course INSTEAD of a required academy class.
Students that want to participate in ROP will not have the space in their schedule to join any of the academies at SLHS. ROP students spend half the school day off campus, and the other half taking classes required for graduation.Â
