Course Objective:
!Bienvenidos a las clase de español! AP Spanish Language and Culture is designed to fine-tune linguistic skills and
promote the culture of Spanish speaking countries of advanced Spanish students.
The course prepares for successful performance on the Advanced Placement Examination in Spanish Language and Culture.
Course Content is structured around six specific themes to promote exploration of the language
in context and develop students' understanding of the target culture.
AP requires that students demonstrate knowledge of the target culture and be able to use the language in real-life settings.

Textbook Policy:
You can leave your textbook at home or in your locker unless you are told otherwise.
Attendance Policy:
Try to be on time to class. Part of learning a language is just being there to speak it. Frequent tardiness can result in phone calls home or detentions. If you miss class entirely, you are expected to get any missed notes from classmates and pick up missed papers from the teacher.
Student's Responsibilities:
Respect is the key word. Mutual respect and courtesy towards everyone, inside the classroom and outside the classroom, is expected at all times.
Follow the classroom rules and behave in an appropriate manner.
NO electronics: Please do not use cellphones during class time unless directed by the teacher.
Attendance: If you know that you will be absent please let the teacher know so that you can get te lesson materials ahead of time. You have the same number of days of your absences to work on any pending assignments.
Tardiness: You are considered tardy to this class if you are not in your seat when the bell rings.
Test/Quizzes: Arrange to make up any test or quiz missed immediately upon returning to class after the absence.
Homework will be assigned almost every day. It must be turned in the next day, unless specified by the teacher.
Late Work Policy: All homework and assignments should be completed on time. You can turn in assignments up to 30 days late for full credit.
Tests/Quizzes/Retakes: You will have the opportunity to revise or retake all major assignments and quizzes, as long as this is done within 30 days of the original assignment's due date. For all revisions and retakes, please speak to Mrs. Perez first.
Cheating or Plagiarism: There will be no zeroes given out in this class. The lowest given grade on plagiarism are very serious ofenses and are the only time Mrs. Perez will give out a zero on an assignment. You will also be reported to the school administration, and Mrs. Perez will make a phone call home to your parents.
Binder: You are expected to put all papers in your binder. They should be filed into 4 sections as previously explained. Binder checkes will be announced in advance and cannot be turned in late.
Ask for help when having difficulties with the material.
Ask questions when something is not clear.
Try hard! Most of the time you learn in proportion to your effort.

Interpretive: 15%
Cultural Understanding: 20%
Interpersonal: 15%
Content Knowledge: 20%
Presentational: 30%
