The Championship Meet, this year, will be held at Canyon (couldn't work out Chabot this year). On the good news front, that means the $50 fee we have been paying will not happen (no electronic timing), and there will not be a parking fee. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:30 on Friday, October 4. You may begin arriving as soon as 2:30. We _do_ get a lot of traffic up the hill (school is out at 3:10), so coming earlier is better...or at least sending your opening event (100s) athletes ahead is a great idea. My PE classes will be setting up for the meet throughout the day, and I'll send a "map" of where the events will be taking place, so we won't have an all-athlete meeting like we do during regular-season meets. Coaches, please check in with me when you arrive, to get your assignments/areas/clipboards. We will have all the implements (including batons), so if you just want to bring yourselves, that's fine.
One difference from the regular season--athletes at the Championship meet will get an "assigned number"--each athlete will need to come over to the Staging Area (near the finish line) to get his/her number before the meet begins. This number will follow them throughout the meet (so don't take it off/throw it away) until the meet is over. Hopefully, this will make doing results at the various events easier (haven't done it this way before, but in my head, it works GREAT!).
Finally, please ask your athletes to sit together on the Football Field, as opposed to the bleachers. We are trying to avoid lots of movement across the track (especially as they walk across where the Shotput takes place). Parents/spectators can also sit on the Football Field (or bleachers).
All Track and Field Events start at 3:45 and ends at around 6:30.
Students race in their PE clothes and must find a ride to the event.
