Black Men and Black Bodies Matter

At birth, everyone has a purpose. From the start of one’s life, one's purpose is being molded. As Black males, we have seen our purpose and lives be determined by other people that don’t have our same vision and our purpose is to have not only a positive impact in our society but to inspire the next generation of young Black men in America. We have seen the greatness that is within us. We have seen how our ancestors were able to overcome slavery and segregation. We have seen the numerous Black male figures that have made lasting impacts for the betterment of their community. With this, we have the blueprint for Black excellence. When we look in the mirror, we see Black King’s that are destined for the throne. We see movers and shakers that are ready to take on the world. The world would not be what it is today without Black men and Black people as a whole. The campus of Saint Louis University would not be what it is without the presence of Black students. Every Black student on campus is here to unlock the key to endless opportunity in their lives and become one step closer to making their dreams become reality. We are dreamers and visionaries, yet some people are trying to block our dreams and blind our vision. Despite this, we must keep moving onward and upward towards the light. We must use the individuals that are trying to stop our dreams and block our vision as pedestals and stepping stones to elevate upward, and while we elevate we are reaching out hands to each other along this journey and pulling each other up as well. Black is Amazing. Black is phenomenal. Black is Love. Black is Hope. Black is the Vision. Black is Today. Black is Tomorrow and Black is the future! We are here to stay and make our presence known and voices heard! There is no limit to the greatness that we will achieve!
