Thomas Jennings was a career burglar and ex-convict who had been let out on parole from a state prison in Joliet six weeks prior to this incident. When he wasn't in jail he spent his time as a "Laboring man."
Courts say he broke into the houses with the intent to sexually assault women.
Clarence D. Hiller: Clarence was a married man with four children living in a two story house on the West One Hundred and Fourth street in Chicago. Was murdered after Thomas Jennings shot him twice.

Florence Hiller: 14 Year old daughter of Clarence Hiller and the family member who first encountered Thomas Jennings in her room. Claims that Jennings entered her room, pushed up her nightgown and felt around her body while placing his cheek against her face.

Mrs. Hiller: Testified that their house was painted recently and was the one who witnessed Jennings in Florence's room and screamed for help.
