In order to better serve our students' learning, from time-to-time colleges, schools, and departments may see the need to develop a new program or find that a currently offered program may need to change significantly. The Reinert Center can support you through any or all stages of program development or redesign.
The Center can facilitate any part of your process from getting to know yourselves, your students and your program to visioning and goal setting, through program and course development. We can join you from the beginning of the process or at any point where you feel our help would be most beneficial.
On the following pages, you will be introduced to the process we follow when working with units to develop or revise a program. The overview page lays out the steps we suggest when thinking about developing or redesigning a program. Depending on whether you are interested in program development or program redesign, the nuances in these processes are outlined on the respective pages. Of course, if you should have any questions about the process or are interested in having someone from the Reinert Center support you through facilitating the process, please contact us at cttl@slu.edu
These are a few statements from individuals who have invited us into their development or redesign process:
[The Reinert Center] helped us set up a clear, thorough process for our program review. It worked beautifully. I would enthusiastically recommend that other chairs and program coordinators work with the Reinert Center to set up their review processes! - Daniel Smith, Chair, Theological Studies
We have been teaching online courses for many years, so I did not think we needed much support when redesigning our online program. I’m so glad we decided to have the Reinert Center talk to us anyway. They led us through a thorough process that made it so we focused on student learning and helped us to take a deeper look into what we were actually doing in our courses, not just what we felt like we were doing. It was not easy or quick, but well worth it in the end. – Anonymous, program director
We have had [the Reinert Center] work with multiple programs to get us started in thinking about redesigning various programs and to check in on our progress. Every time they lead a discussion, we have significant “aha” moments that solidified our thinking. Can’t say enough good things about having [the Reinert Center’s] help! Anonymous, Associate Dean
