Hey everyone! My name is Tate Severs and I'll be serving as President of Overground Railroad for the 25-26 academic year. I'm a senior studying Environmental Science and Biology. This is my second year in Overground and my last year at SLU so I am very excited for the school year ahead of us! We are intentional about how we aid the community around us at Overground; namely how we can effectively clog the school-to-prison pipeline in St. Louis. If you are passionate about community service, personal reflection, and building legitimate relationships with young learners, I urge you to join Overground so that we can better serve our community together. Please reach out if you have any questions!

I look forward to utilizing our collective creativity to support projects that create a long-lasting impact within our city.
Hello! I’m George Mikhail and I will be the Volunteer Coordinator for Overground this year. After serving as the Site Coordinator for Sumner High School and Washington Montessori Elementary School, as well as tutoring with Overground over the past two years, I am excited to join the Executive Board and help support all of our schools. My favorite part of Overground has been seeing the students’ excitement when tutors arrive. It’s a clear sign we’re building connections and making a real difference as they grow eager to learn. I’m looking forward to helping oversee volunteering with all six of our schools this year and continuing to foster that love of learning. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
Hello everyone! My name is Richa Kulkarni, and I am a Senior majoring in Health Sciences with a double minor in Biology and Psychology. I am very excited to take on a leadership role during my second year with this wonderful organization. I have been involved with tutoring since high school, and I am very excited to continue that journey with Overground Railroad here at SLU. I have loved getting to know the students, which has helped me better understand the St. Louis community despite being a local. One of my favorite parts of Overground during my first year was learning about its history and focusing on understanding the social justice issues that have led to an unequal education system in the U.S., which I am really looking forward to sharing with you all in my capacity as Reflection Coordinator! I look forward to seeing you all at our regular Reflection Meetings!

I began tutoring with Overground as soon as I got to SLU and it has been an amazing experience since. To me, Overground is more than just a tutoring organization; it’s a pathway to improving individuals in character and development to be better leaders in our community. When I’m not dreaming up our next big project, I am actively engaging the relationships between tutors, the community, and students to improve at what we do best!

I’m a junior at SLU majoring in Public Health with a minor in Biology on the Pre-Med track, and this is my third year with the organization. I have truly loved working with students from different walks of life; it has been a powerful reminder of how education can transform futures and bridge communities. Every tutoring session is both a chance to teach and a chance to learn—about resilience, curiosity, and the shared human experiences that connect us all.
