Resource Room News

Reading, Writing, & Vocabulary: This year, students will use Wit & Wisdom, a knowledge-building ELA curriculum that combines reading, writing, vocabulary, speaking, listening, and critical thinking. Through engaging literature and nonfiction texts, students will build background knowledge while developing strong literacy skills and learning to express their ideas with confidence.

Our four modules are A Season of Change, The American West, Civil Rights Heroes, and Good Eating.

Word Study:  Our word study will be addressed through explicit, systematic, and multisensory instruction, providing students with clear, structured opportunities to connect sounds, letters, and words. Students will practice skills through seeing, saying, hearing, and physically engaging with language, with instruction that builds from previously learned skills while providing frequent review and repetition. Reading instruction will emphasize accurate decoding, fluent reading, vocabulary, and comprehension, while giving students the tools and confidence they need to become independent readers.
