Coffee Night
Coffee Night (sometimes stylized as Coffee Nite) was an annual variety show event hosted by the Drama Club. The show ran for one night only annually, was typically themed, and provided free admission and coffee to the audience. It has been compared to a dramatized and structured open mic. The event's branding as "Coffee Night" is fairly recent; the Drama Club has been hosting variety shows and one-act nights since the mid-20th century, including as Winter One-Acts (1960s), Thingie Day (1970s), and Class Acts (1980s), introducing Coffee Night in the 1990s.
The last Coffee Night occurred in 2019 and has not been renewed since, primarily due to challenges posed by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Coffee Night is not expected return in 2023.
While actively running, Coffee Night was produced by the Drama Club, but was hosted by different students every year. Most recently, Iambic Pentameter director Kaylee Beardsley hosted alongside Improv Team co-president Hannah Peterson on April 19, 2019.
