As you know, this is a critic/judge type of contest. If you desire written comments, the student must hand the room chairperson a comment sheet before each performance and have the top portion filled out. A rating will be still given if there is no comment sheet. The completed comment sheets may be picked up by the school’s coach in the Main Office when the last of the school’s contestants are finished performing and their sections have been posted. If you want comments sheets mailed to you, you must leave a stamped, self-addressed envelope at the office. Comment sheets may be purchased at the office for $.50 each or three for $1.00, but all schools are encouraged to supply their own.
Please read your constitution about providing your own media formatted presentation for the categories of Short Film , TV Newscasting & News Radio. This is the responsibility of each school to bring equipment, including a projector. We will have speakers available; however, to ensure you know how to run the equipment and to ensure the centers run smoothly, we strongly encourage you to bring your own speakers.
There will be a Judges’ meeting in room 102 at 7:15 a.m. This room will be reserved for judges only.
Programs will be available for sale at the information table for parents and other speech spectators.
Please inform your spectators, parents, etc., as per the state office, there will be a suggested donation of $5.00 to watch the performers.
Throughout the day, there will be students located throughout the building to assist with directions, questions, and noise control. Direct questions to them and inform your students of their purpose.
Ratings will be posted in the HIGH SCHOOL GYM & ON THIS WEBSITE as they become available. Please do not ask in the office when a section will be posted. Our office helpers will post ratings as quickly as possible.
Food (pizza, snacks, pop, etc.) will be sold in the student center. Please encourage your students to support our fundraising efforts by patronizing our speech concessions. FOOD AND DRINK MUST REMAIN IN THE COMMONS AREA. NO FOOD OR POP WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE GYM, HALLWAYS OR PERFORMANCE ROOMS. Please stress this to your students. Our janitorial staff will very much appreciate the clean school left behind by all our visitors if food and drink remain in the commons area during the day.
Encourage your students to be very careful about noise in the hallways and commons. Please tell your students to behave with decorum at all times. Students may not play radios or CD players unless they use headphones. Our students respect our school facilities, and we expect that of our visitors as well.
During the day, coaches are encouraged to help “patrol” the areas where the students are located, including the gym, cafeteria, and hallways.
