We will utilize this website to help you navigate all of the questions and concerns as you begin to prepare for life after high school. We may not all take the same path but we may have similar questions. It is our hope that this website could help you navigate these situations easily. However, if you cannot find the answers you are looking for, please feel free to stop by and talk to either Mrs. Nieland or Mrs. Kruse.
Scholarships: Money awarded to students to help offset the financial obligations of post secondary schooling. (Do not need to be repaid)
Grants: Money given for a specific purpose (Do not need to be repaid)
Loans: Money borrowed to an individual that MUST BE REPAID to the lender
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
FAFSA helps students begin to plan how they will pay for college and provides additional resources to help with the process.
Opens January 1st
The ACT contains four test: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science (Writing test is optional)

Applying to College
If possible, go on a college visit to get a feel for the college.
While there be professional, engaged, and ask questions.
Ideas for questions could include: majors, room and board, scholarships, activities, food, cost, etc.
Apply online by searching apply to (then whatever college you want to apply to). If you are interested in more than one college, apply to them.
If there is a fee to apply for the college and you qualify for free and reduced lunch, ask for an application fee waiver from your counselor.
Connect with the college admissions person who can answer questions, and direct you to scholarships.
Charter Program
The Charter program through Iowa Central Community College is free for one year!
