Rule of Thirds Reflection

From what I learned from this article was that The Rule of Thirds is important when wanting to create a balanced and interesting photo. From what I learned from an article talking about Rule of Thirds in Photography, there are 2 lines going horizontal and vertical, making up 9 boxes. Aligning your subject or whatever you're trying to take a photo of, to the lines will make your photo interesting. You don't always have to follow this rule, but if you do break that rule, make sure you know what you're doing and what you're doing will be interesting to the eye.

Photo Assignment: Editing

「 Before

This is the picture before I edited anything to it.

「 After 」

I took this picture of Ashley when she was sipping coffee, and I didn't do a lot to the picture. But I did adjust the curve slightly. Curves and Levels are adjusting the light and dark pixels for a more "better" photo I suppose. And a Histogram is a graph showing the shadows, mid-tones, and highlights. Adjusting the histogram would be adjusting the levels.

「 Homecoming Rally 」

I happened to take a picture during the Homecoming Rally, which was the section when the Cheerleaders were doing their own thing. And I took a picture of when one of the Cheerleaders was in the air. The rally was on October 19, 2018.

「 Green Grapes 」

It was in the evening, and I thought the lighting was nice so I took some pictures during this time. But at the same time I had some grapes out, so I thought: Why not take some pictures of grapes?? And that happened. I think it turned out pretty well !

Using Lines in Photography Reflection

Using lines in photography can be impactful and powerful. In the article talking about How to Use Lines in Photography, there are 4 types of lines, and they each have their own moods. Along with leading the eye. The 4 types of lines; Horizontal, Vertical, Diagonal, and Jagged & Irregular. The first line: Horizontal. The mood that this line has is homeostasis or Lack of Change. This kind of photo is used to take a picture thats "timeless" and "in the moment" kind of thing. The second line: Vertical, which gives a peaceful or stable mood. This kind of line can be found within rocks or railroads. The third line; Diagonal. This is a powerful kind of line that gives a lot of attention, it leads the eye by traveling back and forth. And the last line: Jagged & Irregular. This can give a disquiet, agitated, or even a different negative mood. This can be found within roots, mountains, or twisted metal. Lastly, and important subject; Leading the Eye. This is important to know when taking pictures using line(s). There are 2 important rules to follow when leading the eye. First; always make sure the line is leading towards the focal point. Secondly; you should never use the lines to lead outside of the picture or the focus point. This makes the picture weaker. And this is everything that I have learned from reading this article.

「 Street Photo 」

As for my grade.. I turned this in late for a 4/10 credit.. Sad. But I took this picture on my way home on Thursday, October 6th of 2018! I thought the lighting was nice coming from the left, and I had to find a picture to upload (the camera lens that I borrowed kind of sucked at taking close ups). So I decided to take a random picture of the street, which turned out pretty nice! I don't know if it's that great, but I like the focus on the bottom.
