Fairy Tale Twist
This page will be for my project in English about the book I'm reading. The book is: Cinder by Marissa Meyer. It's book 1 of the Lunar Chronicles.

Lunar is in the story, and so i decided to use the moon! since cinder is inspired by the story: Cinderella, on the back i included the words, "once upon a time..." i used these words because that's usually how a children's fairy tale book starts right?

In the beginning of the book when it was talking about Princess Selene, i had a feeling that Cinder would be Princess Selene because that's how cliches work. The more I read the book the more I enjoyed it even though it was really cliche with everything. Because Cinder is the main character of the story, she has to have the biggest spotlight near the end or in the middle. Which at the end, she did discover that she is Princess Selene herself.

Why does Linh Adri matter? She matters in this book because she is the reason as to why Cinder finds out she is Lunar. She is also the reason why Cinder wants to escape New Beijing so much, if it weren't for Adri treating Cinder horribly, I don't think she would have even built a relationship with Prince Kai and met Dr. Erland. Cinder wouldn't have grown if Adri treated her like Peony or Pearl. Cinder wouldn't have found the car if she hadn't been wanting to escape New Beijing and Adri.

- Why wasn't there a fairy godmother in the story?
- Isn't it supposed to be based on Cinderella?
This book is indeed based on the story-line of Cinderella, but it comes in many different forms. Cinder does meet her Prince Charming in the story, but it wasn't Cinder finding and meeting him, its the other way around. Prince Kai went and specifically looked for her and giving her something. Then Adri and Pearl are considered the Evil Stepmother and Stepsisters. Peony and Iko to me are considered the little mice and animals that helps Cinderella. So why isn't there a character that is the Fairy Godmother? Cinder is her own Fairy Godmother because she puts on her own dress and gets herself to the ball by herself. Which is essentially what the Fairy Godmother does. Cinder is both Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother.
