The biggest Scottish question is, “Is the Loch Ness Monster real?” and yes many people believe it is and others don't, however a fabulous group of people came together to hopefully crack the question and reveal the answer to the world.
A little background
On the 22nd of August 565 AD: famous St Columba spotted the beast while it was attacking a swimmer and recorded it. After that he sent one of his companions to go test the water to see if what he saw was true. Later on Columba allegedly made the sign of the cross and banished the horrid creature.
Thousands of years later on August 1933 an anonymous couple claimed to have spotted the beast as they quote “an enormous animal rolling and plunging on the surface.” After stating it in London newspapers the story grows ginormous. London ended up offering £20,000 to Scotland for capture of the beast. Later on that day many bikers drove by and also claimed to have seen the same beast as the anonymous couple. Since this time, numerous sightings have been claimed like, another blurry, grey and fuzzy photo by Hugh Gray in 1933 and in 1934 Robert Kenneth Wilson snapped the clearest picture of the Loch Ness Monster and is now famously known as “The Surgeon’s Photo.”
What’s happening now?
After all those sightings people still question if all of it was fake to get attention. A fabulous, amazing group of people decided to come together and finally put a close to the question after it lingered what felt like forever. They decided to finally have a look to see if all these allegations were real after they created a building in the Scottish Highlands called “The Loch Ness Centre” where 1,100 recorded sightings of the monster. Even though in 2018 they did a huge search and found no evidence of any large creature, it didn't close the question for good. Now what's happened now? In 2023 a group decided to put thermal scanners, boats with infrared cameras and an underwater hydrophone deployed during this massive search. The scanners allowed the researchers to find out how deep the Loch Ness Monster could go down in the loch and the hydrophones allowed them to hear underwater sounds so they could react quickly and hopefully crack the question. Lots of people from all around the world did the same tests from 17 different locations around the loch.
Now that you know about the search and all about the background. Do other people still believe in it? I asked people around Trinity High and even some of my own family to get their voice and opinion on this Scottish mystery.
People Voice
Caera Neeson S1- Yes: “I just think why make it up in the first place when there is evidence to prove it.”
Miss Spark C102 science– No: “I don't think the evidence is real because you can easily recreate the famous ‘Surgeons Photo’”
Miss Wilson C009 music– No: “I don't think it's real but I would like to think it is.”
Arinade Adediran S1- No: “most people have not seen it in my opinion and lots of people like to make stuff up.”
Olivia Magee S1- No: “there are lots of fake things like unicorns and witches so why would the Loch Ness Monster be real?”
Liam McDevitt S3- Yes: “because why would it not be real”
Amber Cooper S4 - Yes “because I really like Nessie.”
Dad – No: “I don't think it's real because I don't think any monster is real.”
Brother– No: “if the Loch Ness Monster was real, in the famous surgeons photo there would be more bigger ripples surrounding the huge monster if a huge animal swims in the water.”
Ella Whitehead performance, Ethos and events captain S6 - Yes: “Personally I think it is real however am not sure why I think that.”
Emz Gormley S4- Yes: “I believe that any magical creature can exist, just because you can't prove that doesn't mean it isn't true, so yeah.”
Now the question still lingers even though they have checked and found nothing. Do you think the Scottish Monster Nessie is real?

We all know there’s movies, TV programmes, and books on ghosts, usually people trying to catch them in the act, but do we know the real truth? This article will go deeper than ever into people’s findings and sightings, conspiracy theories, along with some predictions.
Findings
We’ve had many findings shared by people over the years, however 2 of the most interesting sightings were from a lady named Kira Cochrane, and a man called Adrian Gomez.
Firstly, Kira Cochrane shared her story quoting “Who knows what accounts for these apparitions?”. Kira’s story follows:
“I haven’t seen a ghost myself, but my mother once did in 1980 after my father had died suddenly of heart-attack leaving my mother with 2 young children, and also being 3 months pregnant. My mother found it hard in the first few months, but decided to keep the baby and continue like she had done before. Baby Fraser was then born with things being all well and good, until one fateful night. My mother was feeding Fraser in her room during the night, when she looked up to see my father standing there at the end of the bed. “I came to see him,” he said, gesturing to his beloved son. He was there just a moment then disappeared, never to be seen again.”
Secondly, Adrian Gomez told his story as follows:
“I live in Los Angeles with my partner, where our first few days of sheltering due to the coronavirus pandemic proved uneventful. We worked, sometimes baked, and took a 10 minute walk every morning, until one night when the doorknob began to rattle “vigorously,” so loud that my partner could hear it from across the apartment. Yet no one was there. This then ended after a few minutes, again until mid-April as I slept when a nearby window-shade began shaking even-though all our pets had been accounted for, and there was no bird nor animal to be seen. I very seriously hid myself, like you see in horror movies, because it really did freak me out. We can also make out loud and distinctive footsteps above us, even though no one lives in that apartment. We have never been able to explain this paranormal activity, but we hope that someday, someone will have the answers to this mystery we seek.”
Conspiracy Theories
A certain conspiracist once carried out an investigation and this was their results: In a poll of 1000 American adults, 41% said they believe in ghosts, and 20% said they had personally experienced them. If this information is correct, that is more than 50 million spirit encounters in the US alone. Scientists say that ghosts are not impossible, but that they are still not 100% sure on what they actually are and what they are capable of. Although, they do say this is “Some kind of special energy, and lots of people believe that this is someone who was alive and has now died.” The question is, “Will we ever know?”.
Predictions
Caera (S1) - “I think ghosts are real, and they are some kind of human that came back to life as a spirit, but to be honest we have no idea what they could be capable of.”
Mrs Spark (Science Dept) - “I don’t think so, no.”
Mya (S1) - “I think ghosts are kinda real, but I don’t think they’re the kind of ghosts that we think, if that makes sense.”
Miss McMonagle (English Dept) - “ I don’t know, I do think I could believe in them but I don’t think I have ever really seen one myself.”
Arinade (S1) - “I simply just don’t believe in ghosts.”
Keira (S1) - “I do think ghosts are real.”

Robert Lazar's Story
Robert Lazar claimed that he worked on extra-terrestrial technology inside the base. Lazar told Las Vegas television that he had viewed autopsy photographs of aliens inside Area 51 and that the US government used the facility to examine recovered alien spacecraft. Lazar himself was discredited, but his claims resulted in numerous government conspiracy theories, most of which involve extra-terrestrial life.
In Conclusion
All that we know about Area 51 is that it is an Air Force facility in the United States, but we don't know what they are hiding or why they are hiding it from us. What do you think they're hiding?
Article by Arinade Adediran (S1)
What is Area 51?
Area 15 is a highly classified United States Air Force facility. It is at Groom Lake. It is a dry lakebed in the Nevada Desert, 85 miles (135km) north of Las Vegas. What goes on inside is extremely secret. Members of the public are kept away by warning signs, electronic surveillance, and armed guards. It is also illegal to fly over Area 51, although the site is now visible on satellite images.
What we know about Area 51:
It is a highly classified United States Air Force facility.
Area 51 is not accessible to the public and is under 24-hour surveillance.
Area 51 employees reach the facility by way of aeroplane. They fly in and out of a restricted terminal at McCarran International Airport on one of several unmarked planes permitted to fly through the airspace above Area 51.
What we don’t know about Area 51:
We don’t know why they are hiding it from the public and what they are keeping there.
We’ve all heard of the trend, dipping chips into a milkshake (specifically in McDonalds) through either TikTok, Instagram, or some kind of social-media platform by now. This article will tell us the “Yay or Nay?” question answered by some pupils and teachers around our school.
Opinions.
Arinade (S1) - “Why would you dip potatoes in milk, that just seems crazy to me.”
Liam (S3) - “Dipping chips in a milkshake is simply not ok.”
Miss McMonagle (English Dept) - “I’ve never done it myself, but I do understand that savoury and sweet go well together!”
Jenna (S3) - “I personally just don’t think dipping chips in a milkshake is ok.”
Mya (S1) - “I’ve never tried it, and don’t really want to try it, because it seems to me like I just don’t want grease in my milkshake to be honest.”
Mrs Spark (Science Dept) - “I don’t think I would like that, personally I think just purely because of the taste.”
Alex (S3) - “Simple, chips in milkshakes should be illegal.”
Louisa (S1) - Personally I think it is disgusting because when you dip it in, the chips get soggy plus a milkshake is for drinking, not for dipping things into!”
Olivia (S1) - “I think it's absolutely rank, it’s disgusting, and I would never do that.”
Caera (S1) - “I think it is simply just not a good combination, and should be illegal.”
I hope you enjoyed this fun-themed article on a “Yay or Nay?” opinion piece, there will be more of these soon on the Trinity Times website.

This article will be about Henry VII's wives and they meet Henry and how their life changed. As context this all started with Henry wanting a son and wanting an heir to be king when he died as he thought a lady couldn't rule England.
Catherine of Aragon
Catherine was a Spanish princess and was told to move to England in 1501, 2nd of October. Once she arrived, she meets the future King of England, but a few weeks later he dies. Catherine was heart broken by this but moves on, seeing Henry the VIII next in line (the future king of England). They get married and have a baby girl called Mary but Henry is displeased because he wanted a boy so in 1533 Henry meets someone else Anne Boleyn and divorced Catherine .
Anne Boleyn
Anne Boleyn was born in 1507, she was from France and moved to England in 1522 when she meet the king. Henry fell in love in with Anne, but she didn't feel the same way and liked someone else. However, Henry wouldn't stop buying her presents and lovely things, so she started to court him. In 1533 Henry divorced Catherine of Aragon and married Anne but lots of people didn't like this marriage. Henry didn't care, he loved Anne. In 1533 Anne had a baby girl called Elizabeth. Elizabeth was a joy, but Anne and Henry started to have a bad relationship and Henry was seeing other people (especially Jane Seymour) until one day Henry decided that he didn't love Anne anymore and that he wanted a son, so he arranged to have her beheaded.
Jane Seymour
Jane was born in 1508 in England she was a lady in waiting for Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn until 1534 or 1535 when Henry was married to Anne Boleyn. Henry fell in love with Jane and they stared courting in private until Anne seen them having an affair which led to Henry having Anne killed. Finally, 9 days after Anne's execution Jane and Henry got married. There relationship was good then and in 1537 Jane had a baby boy called Edward. Henry was so happy however, Jane had died of childbirth. Some say this was the only time Henry was upset about one of his wives passing away.
Anne of Cleves
Anne was born in 1515 in Germany she lived a very good childhood (she was not a princess). After Henry lost his 3rd wife he started to look for a new wife, that was when someone told him about Anne of Cleves and her sister Amalia Cleves. Henry picked Amalia and she said “if I had two heads I would give one to the king but I don't so no. ” Because of this, Henry picked Anne of Cleves. When Anne arrived in England, Henry meet her and was shocked and said “she looks like a horse ”. Their relationship was not good and only lasted six months but when the divorce happened Anne was not upset and she said ” I am lucky ” , and was treated very well after the divorce especially by Mary (Catherine of Argons daughter) and by Henry himself .
Katherine Howard
Katherine was born in 1521 in England. Katherine had a bad childhood as she lost her mother at a young age, and she had to live with her step grandmother who shouted at her. But things changed a lot for Katherine in 1540, as Henry met her. Things expanded quite a lot because they got married, the same year their relationship was good and then became bad when Henry found out that Kathrine was not pregnant and later on found out that she was having an affair, so Henry divorced her and executed her and one of the ladies in waiting because she knew this information and didn't say anything about this. Finally Kathrine was killed. Kathrine was 17 when she died, and Henry was 49.
Catherine Parr
Catherine was born in 1512 and was born England she had a good childhood. She married several times and the last one she married was hennery at this time Henry was 49 still and Catherine was 30. Henry fell in love with Catherine, but Catherine was in love with someone else bit she left him because she was scared if she married Henry, he would kill her. After they got married their relationship was good but came to an end when Henry died in 1547 after that she was upset but she did a lot of great things ike fought for female education and made books. She also had a very good relationship with all of Henry's children Mary, Elizabeth and Edward until finally she died in 1548 a year after Henry the VIII .

“Are aliens real?,” that’s the big question, but do we know the truth and what are people’s thoughts? In this article, that’s exactly what we’re going to be investigating!
🛸 Investigations 🛸
The National Geographic website quoted - “There’s something strange going on in the sky, but what?” Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO’s) have been much in the news, in the US especially, as some American scientists claimed to have discovered the remains of a crashed alien spacecraft.
In November 2004, 2 Navy pilots on a training mission were ordered to intercept a mysterious aircraft. They managed to capture what looked like an unusual oval-shaped craft, approximately 40 feet long, hovering above the Pacific Ocean just miles off San- Diego. It quickly got away before the pilots could investigate, but at the time one of the pilots (David- Fravor) quotes, “I have no idea what I saw.”
Conspiracies
Firstly in 2006 employees at Chicago National Airport, described seeing an unidentified object hovering above a terminal, however the Federal Administration dismissed it as a weather incident.
Secondly, in 2014 Navy pilots reported seeing a series of spinning saucers, although they did not comment at this time. Later in 2021, an American Airlines Pilot said “A long cylinder-shaped object flew over his aircraft and resembled a missile. Again, the FFA (Future Farmers of America) said that no such object was identified on official radars.
Opinions - Does the Trinity community think there are aliens?
Mrs Spark (Science Dept) - “Possibly, but we just haven’t found them yet.”
Mya (S1) - “I think there’s other life out there, but I don’t think aliens are what they look like to us, they’re not just little things with millions of eyes, legs or arms like we think.”
Miss McMonagle (English Dept) - “Yes definitely, there’s no way we are the only intelligent life in our whole universe.”
Arinade (S1) - “I think aliens are just something human made-up to be honest, and they have just been made a big deal because of someone’s imagination.”
Keira (S1) - “I think aliens are real, but they just live on another planet.”
